Mojácar Angling Club
"Captain Mel" has been out from Villaricus but says nothing decent was caught. "Captain (Graham) Gnome" has also been out a few times from Garrucha with guests and has done well. His first Triggerfish of the year was caught and it's good news they are about. Bringing up a Pickerel, Graham was a bit surprised to find only the head left so something decent was about. Graham's guests also had Zebra and Striped Bream among the usual catches such as the big shoaling Bogues. "London Bill" has been suffering from big seas these last few days and is waiting for the chop to calm a little and big fish will be in the rollers that follow. Before the rough seas he did catch a few Mullet, a welcome Cow Bream, Dorada and White Bream. The "Crazy Mountain Crew" (Chris and Ali) from Baza tell me the lake is at an all time low, water wise, and say they think it would be possible to wade across the lake to the right of the spa bath. They didn't see a fish. See photo of Ali with a Mirror Carp on a previous trip to the lake. "Baza Barry" however did catch a few fish and says his biggest ones are again coming off the top, bread and dog biscuits being the bait. A few tiddlers are being caught from the Cuevas Canal and anglers fishing the main lake are catching a few small ones too. Water again is an issue and obviously (To me) there won't be 25 billion litres coming in from Baza this year. License update, all outstanding fishing licenses are now in including Andalucian coarse ones. For further information on any of the above or to find out about beach, boat or coarse fishing licenses, see John at the Beachcomber Bar Restaurant on Mojacar Playa or tel 950 473 099. In case of difficulty reaching me (Probably out Fishing) ask staff for my mobile number. Tight lines. Beachcomber John. |
